We believe activities enhance the wellbeing of our participants by providing a sense of purpose and passion and improve quality of life through meaningful leisure. We use our participants' strengths and interests to develop programming to support goals set by our participants such as increasing strength and physical health, maintaining memory, and supporting emotional regulation.
Social activities support individuals in development, maintenance and enhancement of social well-being. We provide a number of activities to engage our participants in conversations with others to foster connection, relationship and community.
Intellectual activities foster opportunities for growth, maintenance of current strengths, and engagement through cognitive stimulation. We support our participants living with and experiencing cognitive change through a variety of intellectual activities throughout the day. Our team innovatively strives to bring new and exciting intellectual games and activities to all of our participants to meet their needs and interests.
Physical activity becomes increasingly important as individuals age in order to maintain and build on existing strengths. At Virtual Rec Connect, we offer a daily exercise program to meet the needs of all individuals.
Emotional activities allow individuals the safe space to self-express, regulation of emotions, and foster personal growth. We provide a number of different emotionally centered activities to support our participants in relieving stress, build on their confidence, and navigate changes.
Spiritual is personal and individual to each participant. At Virtual Rec Connect, our team strives to offer a variety of spiritual programming to meet the needs and preferences of its participants.
One to One service is provided by request for individual's wishing to engage virtually with our team. These sessions are specifically geared towards the individual's needs, interests and skills min 1x weekly, or as needed.
Our team curates activity kits with personalized items to participate in group programs and independently
We offer programming on Monday and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturday afternoons.
We provide education and recreation respite opportunities for caregivers.
Our team is happy to support our participants and caregivers with education around software platforms, email, and various forms of technology.
We provide programs in English, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. If you require programming delivered in another language, please let us know!
VRC programs reflect the Therapeutic Recreation service delivery model including the APIED process to support our participants in their wellbeing.
All participants are assessed upon joining. Our team lead speaks with the client and caregiver to gather key health details and information about the client's social and recreational interests. Initial goals and care plans are developed at this time.
Our team plans and develops programs based on the needs and interests of the participants.
Documentation is done on each individual for each program attended. This documentation supports the team in the process of care planning. Access to care plans and documentation may be accessed and changed at any time.
